EmTech China, a summit focusing on emerging technologies, opened on July 29 in Binhu district, Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province.
Many scientists, academicians, and business leaders from across the world participated in the two-day event held by the district's government and MIT Technology Review.
A series of lectures and roundtable meetings about seven topics, including biotechnology, low-carbon, chip making, and quantum computing, were held during the summit.

A list of the 50 smartest companies (TR50) in China was also released during the summit. The companies, including BYD Semiconductor, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co (CATL), and Sany Heavy Industry Co, are from sectors such as life sciences and synthetic biology and expected to maintain a leading role or develop game-changing solutions in their respective fields.
The MIT Technology Review China Smart Companies (Binhu) Innovation Center, which aims to drive innovative development in Binhu's high-tech sector by leveraging the strengths of smart companies, was unveiled that same day.
