​Binhu's economy sees stable growth in H1

Binhu district in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province achieved stable economic development in the first half of 2022.

From January to June, the gross regional product of Binhu was valued at 52.78 billion yuan ($7.82 billion), up 2.8 percent year-on-year. The growth rate was the second highest among all districts in Wuxi and 1.2 points higher than the city's average.

The output of industrial companies above a designated scale was worth 40.27 billion yuan during the same period, an increase of 10.9 percent compared to 2021, while the turnover of service companies above a designated scale reached 7.29 billion yuan in the first five months of 2022, up 17.4 percent over 2021.

Binhu's foreign trade value in the first half of this year stood at $2 billion, rising 28.6 percent from a year earlier. Its imports and exports were $660 million and $1.34 billion, up 49.7 percent and 20.3 percent respectively.

The actual utilization of foreign investment in the district totaled $400 million in the first six months, while the retail sales of consumer goods were 14.1 billion yuan, increasing by 7.7 percent than 2021.

The per capita disposable income of Binhu residents stood at 33,854 yuan and the figure for rural residents increased 5.6 percent compared to last year.

Major industries in Binhu have also experienced robust growth. The business incomes of local companies involved in the integrated circuit, software and information technology, as well as intelligent connected vehicles industries was 5.2 billion yuan, 6.84 billion yuan, and 3.9 billion yuan, up 29.1 percent, 26.87 percent, and 18.6 percent year-on-year respectively.

The operating revenue of artificial intelligence companies above a designated scale reached 2.53 billion yuan, while the sales of life sciences companies hit 7.35 billion yuan.
