Farmers in Binhu district, Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province recently started harvesting their wheat.
According to the district's bureau of agriculture and rural affairs, Binhu has about 2,000 mu (133.33 hectares) of wheat fields this year, and the yield per mu is expected to reach 320 kilograms, 30 kg more than last year.
Binhu has been restoring its wastelands and improving on-farm facilities since the beginning of 2021. With the newly-cultivated land, the district will have over 3,000 mu of crop fields and produce a few thousand metric tons of grain per year.
Binhu has also made efforts to transform its agriculture with digital technologies. For example, it has used unmanned aerial vehicles to spray pesticides.
