Plum Garden Scenic Spot |
Statue of Rong Desheng, one of the founders of the Plum Garden |
This national AAAA scenic spot is north of Tai Lake and south of Dragon Mountain, 5 kilometers from the downtown area, with convenient transportation.
Two brothers, Rong Chongjing and Rong Desheng, considered the founders of Chinese industry, wanted to “spread the fragrance” of this land “to the world” and bought it, in 1912, to turn it into a garden by adorning the Hengshan Mountain with plums, hence the name “Plum Garden”. The scenic spot has now become a popular tourist resort, combining a natural landscape with relics, distinct flowers, architecture, recreation and fitness.
