The fourth session of the 14th Baotou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) opened on Jan 4 at the First Workers' Cultural Palace.

CPPCC Baotou committee members from various political parties, ethnic groups, and sectors across the city attended the meeting to contribute toward accelerating Baotou's innovative development as an old industrial base.

Zhao Jun, chairman of the 14th CPPCC Baotou Municipal Committee, delivered the work report on behalf of the standing committee.

In the report, Zhao highlighted the committee's 2024 achievements. These included contributing to the city's leading industrial development, focusing on key livelihood projects, pioneering inter-city joint consultations, strengthening connections between committee members and the public, enhancing proposals and public sentiment initiatives, and improving the "CPPCC + Court" multi-channel dispute resolution mechanism.

On behalf of the standing committee, Hao Wen, vice-chairman of the 14th CPPCC Baotou Municipal Committee, presented a report on the committee's work regarding proposals. Hao noted that since last year's third session, the committee has used proposals to provide insights into advancing key industrial clusters such as rare earths, silicon, and energy storage while supporting developments in education, healthcare, and culture.

Over the past year, committee members, participating organizations, and special committees submitted 669 proposals, 465 of which were officially filed. These proposals have significantly contributed to Baotou’s progress in various fields.
