Mongolian orthopedics: Precise traditional techniques for distal radius fractures

Updated: 2025-01-03

The Mongolian Orthopedics Department at Baotou Mongolian Medicine Hospital specializes in "green therapy", emphasizing integrated internal and external treatments.

Utilizing traditional Mongolian external therapies, it addresses fractures and joint injuries with techniques like manual reduction and splint fixation, coupled with complementary therapies such as alcohol massage and herbal medicine.

Recently, a 73-year-old patient, Mrs Li, visited the department after a fall left her with swelling, pain, and restricted wrist movement. Diagnosed with a distal radius fracture via X-ray, Chief Dr Bao Amin and his team performed a manual reduction, followed by splint fixation. Incorporating alcohol sprays, massage, and oral Mongolian medicine, Mrs Li experienced rapid improvement in pain, swelling, and joint mobility, expressing high satisfaction with the treatment.

Bao highlighted the unique advantages of Mongolian orthopedic techniques: simplicity, low cost, quick recovery, minimal scarring, and short hospital stays. The department, established in November 2022, offers diverse therapies for conditions ranging from fractures to chronic joint diseases, earning widespread acclaim from patients.
