Baotou recognized as national pilot city for IP service standardization

Updated: 2024-11-12

The National Intellectual Property Administration recently selected Baotou as one of 24 cities in China to conduct a year-long pilot program for intellectual property (IP) public service standardization. This follows Baotou's previous designation as a National Pilot City for IP Strengthening.

In recent years, Baotou has focused on enhancing IP services across key sectors, balancing universal and targeted services, and innovating its public service framework. The city established a multi-layered service system featuring the Baotou IP Service Cluster Public Service Center and an IP Smart Supervision Platform, enabling hybrid "offline + online" service access. Baotou is the first in the region to set up IP service points at market regulation offices. These comprise 202 government-recognized service outlets, 38 certified IP service agencies, and specialized centers in universities and other sectors.

Streamlined service processes have further improved efficiency. In 2021, Baotou opened an IP trademark service window, which expanded this year to include patent services. The window has handled 352 trademark registrations and 277 follow-up trademark requests, facilitating IP financing worth 190 million yuan ($26.28 million).

Targeted services support Baotou's key industries, resulting in 41 IP pledge financings totaling 1.15 billion yuan and 36 IP transactions between universities and companies valued at 3.62 million yuan. Additionally, Baotou has advanced 18 patent conversion projects, with recognition at the regional level.
