Other scenic spots – such as Oboo Primal Forest, Ma'an Mountain, Laoye Temple Mountain and the Great Wall of Zhao State – can all be found in the district. The Great Wall of Zhao State was constructed during the Warring States period（475-221 BC）and is the oldest Great Wall in China. 

Shiguai district has a rich industrial heritage and is abundant in natural resources and minerals, such as coal, silica, kaolin, limestone and dolomite.

The district was one of the 156 key construction projects during China's first Five-year Plan (1953-1957) and it is an important energy and raw materials supply base for the Baogang Group.

The coal mining industry has always been the main industry in Shiguai. Coal taxation accounts for more than 85 percent of the district's annual fiscal revenue.

Shiguai district in Baotou city held an investment promotion conference on Jan 21, signing a total of 12 major project contracts. Awards were also presented to individuals who made outstanding contributions to investment attraction for Shiguai district.

Among the projects, the Baotou International Ski Resort is expected to be completed in August this year. Wang Jing, vice general manager of Beijing Carving Ski Group, mentioned that the business policies provided by Shiguai district attracted the group to invest in building an international ski resort here.

Another major project involves an annual production of 85,000 metric tons of diversified rare earth alloy. This project will be jointly constructed with Baotou Huashang Rare Earth Alloy Co.

Sun Yue, deputy head of Shiguai district, introduced that the district will continue its investment promotion efforts. This year, the city's investment promotion teams will focus on promoting the new energy, equipment manufacturing, new materials, rare earth, and silicon industries.

At the same time, the district will provide high-quality and efficient services to these projects to ensure their smooth construction and operation.
