The groundbreaking ceremony of the Mingyang New Energy Shiguai 200MW photovoltaic centralized competition project was recently held in Baotou.

The project is being carried out by Baotou Mingyang New Energy Co and is located in Wudangzhao town and Baihugou Street in Shiguai district, covering an area of more than 6,849 mu (456.6 hectares), with a planned investment of 1.08 billion yuan ($161.9 million) and a construction period of five months. In November, it will be fully connected to the grid for power generation.

After the project is officially connected to the grid, annual on-grid electricity generation will increase to 341,603.44 megawatt-hour, and total sales revenue is expected to reach 2.14 billion yuan. It will be the largest photovoltaic project in Shiguai district.

The project is part of Shiguai district's continued green and sustainable development efforts and the national strategic goal of peaking carbon emissions and reaching carbon neutrality.

The project makes full use of local solar energy resources, increases the supply of local green electricity, and improves the local energy structure, helping protect the environment, reducing pollution, and conserving limited coal and water resources.

The project can also produce certain economic benefits and help Shiguai build a green, low-carbon and distinctive high-quality transformation and development pilot area in a comprehensive manner.
