Baoshang Bank, formerly known as Baotou Commercial Bank, was established in December 1998. It is the first joint-stock commercial bank established in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and was renamed in September 2007, approved by the China Banking Regulatory Commission.
It is headquartered in Baotou and has branches across the region, as well as in the cities of Ningbo, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Beijing, with other subsidiaries and institutions in 16 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions. By the end of 2016, the total assets of Baoshang Bank reached 418.3 billion yuan ($61.9 billion) with the deposits and loans balances standing at 182.1 billion yuan and 144.8 billion yuan respectively.
The bank centers on the value development of whole industrial chains, especially in industries closely related to people’s lives, including agriculture, education, health care, and insurance, as well as the industries of advanced technology, new energy, and new materials.
Utilizing technological tools such as internet, big data, and cloud computing, the bank is devoted to developing innovative financial services like digital and internet banking to improve efficiency. In addition, through cooperation with various financial institutions, it also provides services such as loaning to micro and middle firms, wealth management, and information consulting.
With a focus on headquarters economy, the bank is a giant tax payer for Baotou. In 2016, its tax payment was 2.9 billion yuan. It has also made great contributions in employment promotion, industrial restructuring, and brand building.
