Arxan Port in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region officially resumed normal customs clearance services on April 3.

This means that drivers and passengers who enter the country through this port only need to fill out a customs health declaration card, and do not need to apply for a health code at an overseas embassy or consulate.

Corresponding with Songbeier Port in Mongolia, Arxan Port is an important window for China to promote opening-up to the north and the development of international trade.

Since 2022, Arxan has implemented projects with investments totaling 290 million yuan ($41.73 million), such as the improvement and renovation of port epidemic prevention facilities, the transformation of scenic port spots, and the construction of the China-Mongolian border trade zone.

On the eve of the resumed operation of Arxan Port, a number of international trading companies in Arxan signed cooperation agreements with the Mongolian Chamber of Commerce and other Mongolian enterprises to annually import 400,000 metric tons of iron ore, with a trade volume of $14 million.

In the next five years, Arxan Port will continue to focus on advantageous and characteristic industries such as grain forage, cooked meat, iron ore and coal imports, border tourism, cross-border tourism, and mutual market trade. It will also strive to achieve an annual output value of 240 million yuan in imported commodities.
