Inner Mongolia's consumer, tourism markets boom during holiday

The consumer and tourism markets in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region boomed during the 2023 Spring Festival holiday, which took place from Jan 21 to 27.

Information from the region's commerce department shows that during the seven-day holiday, 357 commercial and trade enterprises within the region achieved a cumulative sales total of 1.22 billion yuan ($174.29 million), a year-on-year increase of 0.8 percent.

The commodity sales in Xiliin Gol League, Alshaa League, as well as Tongliao, Ulaanqab, Chifeng and Ordos cities increased by 34 percent, 14.3 percent, 12.4 percent, 12 percent, 6 percent and 5 percent year-on-year, respectively.

Meanwhile, as of Jan 27, movie theaters in Inner Mongolia during the Spring Festival holiday reached 81.76 million yuan in box office revenue, the number of screenings hit 43,119, and the number of viewers exceeded 1.84 million.

Hohhot, capital city of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, received 1.49 million tourists during the seven-day holiday, and achieved a total tourism revenue of 707 million yuan, ranking first among the 13 cities and leagues under the region's jurisdiction.
