The sixth session of the 13th People's Congress of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – which kicked off on Jan 21 in the capital city of Hohhot and wound up on Jan 24 – reportedly outlined major progress and set forth ambitious plans.
Deputies in attendance examined the region's economic and social development during 2021 and approved plans for the current year.
Chairwoman Wang Lixia gave a government works report to the conference, which was divided into four parts. This comprised a review of the work for the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the goals and requirements for economic and social developments in 2022, the main tasks of the government's work in the current year and scheduled improvements to the government's administrative capabilities.
According to the conference, the economic and social development plans for Inner Mongolia in 2022 are as follows:
Inner Mongolia's GDP is expected to increase by about 6 percent in the current year. More than 200,000 new urban jobs will be created and the urban unemployment rate will be contained to about 6 percent.
The region's average consumer prices are projected to increase by about 3 percent, while the growth of residents' incomes will keep in step with economic growth.
In the meantime, the report says the quality of the environment will continue to be improved and that the energy savings and emissions reduction targets and tasks issued by the State will be completed.
