Ordos invents record-breaking wind power equipment

2018-07-16

A subsidiary of Sunrui Wind Turbine Blade Co in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, recently managed to manufacture China’s largest 3-megawatt wind turbine blade, breaking a national record.

The invention of a large-scale wind turbine blade has long been the high ground that domestic wind power equipment manufacturers have been aiming for. The company spent only 10 months before achieving its success.

The wind power turbine blades available on land used to be the 2-mW type and could generate only 2,000 kilowatts per hour at most. It has long been a challenge and a necessity to apply the 3-mW wind turbine blade used at sea to the land, especially in the context of decreasing land resources.

Through upgrading equipment and production procedures, the company managed to create  3-mW wind turbine blades that are 71 meters long, only two months before the 67-meter-long blade were due to come off the assembling line.

Statistics showed that the new blade can generate as much as 3,000 kW per hour, an increase of 50 percent in economic benefits compared to the old model.

So far, the branch of Sunrui Wind Turbine Blade Co in Ordos has established three production lines with an annual production capacity of 100.
