Inner Mongolia Normal University (IMNU) started the enrollment process for freshmen of its 2020 academic year at its Saihan and Shengle campuses on Oct 11.

A total of 5,435 students registered at IMNU on the day. Among them, 70.2 percent of the freshmen chose teacher training-related majors, and there is a 14-year gap between the oldest student and the youngest student.

IMNU officials – including the school’s Party secretary, Huang Yali – paid a field visit to registration sites to convey greetings to first-year students and front-line staff members. A birthday party was also held to celebrate the new students who were born on Oct 11.

IMNU welcomed an exceptional freshman this year. Nari Sige, a student of the School of Economics, who was diagnosed with the rare Guillain-Barré syndrome (GLBL) at the age of 2, which caused half-body paralysis below the belly button. Nari Sige is considered as first-degree disability due to the disease.

IMNU officials exempted him from four-year tuition and arranged a job for his parents at the university property company after learning in detail about his academic history and his family’s financial situation. The support is intended to help him to complete his studies successfully.
