IMNU professor hired as Mongolian researcher

Professor Tao Getu from the School of Journalism and Communications at Inner Mongolia Normal University, was recently hired as a researcher at the Mongolia Research Center of the Belt and Road Country and Region Research Center.

The center is under the jurisdiction of the National Civil Affairs Commission, according to officials at IMNU, located in Hohhot, capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The Mongolian Research Center was established in June 2019. As a provincial and ministerial-level scientific research platform and think tank, the center is responsible for providing consulting services for the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor. 

Officials said that the establishment of the center was of significance for exchanges between China and Mongolia, as well as for deepening of cooperation in the Northeast Asia region.

IMNU officials said Professor Tao Getu is devoted to the research of cross-border cultural communication between China and Mongolia. 

In 2019, Tao was hired as a researcher by the Intercultural Research Center at Hebei University, a key research base for humanities and social sciences in North China’s Hebei province.

In recent years, the Tao Getu research team has undertaken a number of related topics such as the Compilation of 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Mongolia, Research on the Basic Situation of Mongolian Media and Research on the Impact of Chinese Media on Mongolia.

IMNU officials said Tao’s team has also established a good scientific research cooperative relationship with the Mongolian Media Research Institute, the Mongolian University of Culture and Arts and the Mongolian National University of Education.
