A total of 5,925 freshmen started their college year in Inner Mongolia Normal University on Sept 11 – of which some 78 percent are from Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 22 percent are from across the country.

Officials said female students account for 68 percent of the total number, most of whom chose to go to the tourism school and the education school.

About 1,980 students are of Mongolian nationality. There are also students with Manchu, Hui and Tujia nationalities.
