A ceremony marking the establishment of College of Computer Science and Technology took place at Inner Mongolia Normal University (IMNU) in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Nov 30.

Attendees participating in the the ceremony included officials from regional big data and education authorities, enterprises, and universities in Inner Mongolia.

Yun Guohong, president of IMNU expressed warm welcome to the guests and said that the newly established college was developed from the Computer & Information Engineering College and Internet Technology College and has undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

In partnership with enterprises including Alibaba Cloud Co Ltd, a branch of Alibaba, Yun introduced that the college opened six undergraduate majors of internet engineering, information management and information technology and communication engineering. 

Focused on areas of information processing of Mongolian language, software analysis, Internet of Things (IoT), image processing and cloud computing, the college will integrate educational resources to build it as a leading college in Inner Mongolia, said Yun.

According to him, strengthening school-enterprise cooperation will be a natural choice for IMNU to improve the quality of higher education.

During the ceremony, the Alibaba Cloud Big Data College was also established.

Earlier in 2017, IMNU signed agreements with Alibaba Cloud Co Ltd and QST Co Ltd, an educational enterprise to build the Alibaba Cloud Big Data College.

With the establishment of the big data college, IMNU will develop a comprehensive educational system of cultivating personnel in areas of cloud computing, artificial intelligence and e-commerce.

And the college is expected to offer technical support for the development of research on ethnic education, Mongolian language and culture and football.

Yun expressed his hopes that the newly established colleges will help IMNU build distinctive colleges with deepened school-enterprise cooperation.
