The first Prints Art Festival, organized by the Art college, opened at Shengle campus in Inner Mongolia Normal University (IMNU) on April 28.

President Yun Guohong, Vice-presidents Zhang Haifeng, Liu Jiuwan, and Zhao Donghai and other leaders from IMNU attended the festival.

The festival features exhibitions of prints from teachers, graduates and private collectors, and also demonstrates the making of prints and other activities.

As a fine category of painting, the print plays an important place in the history of art. The prints in Inner Mongolia combine the ethnic culture and typical characteristics of the region.

Yun spoke highly of the importance of the art festival during his speech at the opening ceremony.

He expressed his hopes that students and teachers from the Art College will exchange ideas and find more inspiration from the exhibits.

He also hoped that the festival will help the innovation of teaching modes and the establishment of a favorable artistic atmosphere to cultivate students.

According to Wuliji, head of the Art College, the fine exhibits demonstrated the charm of printmaking and also the artistic attainments of the teachers and students.

The college will continue to encourage students to create artworks so as to promote the regional development of art, he added.

Dubbed "the cradle of fine arts and art education" in Inner Mongolia, the Art College at IMNU has cultivated more than 8,000 artists in the region. During its sixty years of development, its prints with Inner Mongolian characteristics have become quite influential in China and abroad.
