Dozens of volunteers from Inner Mongolia Normal University (IMNU) cleaned the streets and enforced parking restrictions on March 5, to honor Chinese icon Lei Feng.

Lei, who was a soldier and died in August 1962, was known for helping people in need during his spare time.

Since 1963, March 5 has been celebrated as a special day across the country. And the day is officially called the Learn from Lei Feng Day.

The activity was also part of the local government's efforts to build a clean and civilized city.
