The Research Institute of Buddhist Culture at Inner Mongolia Normal University (IMNU) held a forum to mark the third anniversary of its founding, on Dec 22.

The forum was attended by Cao Zhongjian, executive vice-chairman of the Chinese Association of Religious Studies; Wei Daoru, dean of the Research Institute of Buddhist Culture at IMNU; Zhao Donghai, IMNU vice-president; along with other experts who focus on religious studies.

Cao talked about the achievements made by the research institute over the past three years, saying that it was of strategic significance that IMNU had established a Buddhism research institute.

Wei decided that the research institute should center on Mongolian Buddhism studies and extend to other fields of Buddhist culture until all aspects of Buddhism were covered.

He also advised the building of the research institute into an innovation platform integrating theoretical and practical studies, as well as providing training.

The forum concluded with a discussion on the application of projects supported by the National Social Science Foundation.
