Established in 2002, the Tourism College was one of the earliest tourism teaching units, with the largest recruitment size and greatest number of students of ethnic minorities among all the higher education institutions in Inner Mongolia.

Organization

The Tourism College has four departments, namely the Department of Tourism Management, the Department of Hotel Management, the Department of Air Steward and the Department of Foreign Language Education. The school has two scientific research platforms. Meanwhile, it owns several supporting and social services organizations such as the Tourism Information Center and the Tourism Training Center.

Major setting

The college has three undergraduate majors -- tourism management, hotel management and music performance -- as well as a tourism management ISEC project. Its tourism management major is a well-known brand in Inner Mongolia, while the major of music performance is the earliest undergraduate major related to civil aviation service in Northwest China.

The college has three academic master's degree programs and Inner Mongolia's only MTA program. It also has established education projects such as tourism training and double-degree programs.

Faculty

Most of the college's teachers are graduates from well-known universities such as Beijing Normal University, Sichuan University and Nankai University. Its faculty structure is reasonable, and the teachers' educational backgrounds are diverse. A variety of disciplines, including management, geography and economics history, are taught in an interdisciplinary way to reflect the requirements and characteristics of the tourism discipline.

Scientific research

The college had made remarkable achievements in scientific research from 2010 to 2015. It undertook five research projects at the national level and 12 projects at the provincial or ministerial level. Moreover, it has published six monographs and over 80 papers. It is also a winner of seven awards at above provincial or ministerial level.

The college's teachers have been involved in over 20 projects such as tourism planning and industry surveying.

Students' employment

The employment situation of the college's students is good. The employment rate has remained above 90 percent for three consecutive years. Students are mostly employed by hotels, travel agencies, scenic spots and civil aviation airports.
