1. History

IMNU set up the Teaching and Research Group of Public Physical Education in 1952, which was renamed the Teaching and Research Office of Public Physical Education in 1963, affiliated to the Department of Physical Education (PE).

From 1977 to 1983, the office was affiliated to the Academic Affairs Office and was restructured in 1983 to form the Public Physical Education Department.

In 1997, it was merged with the PE Department but in 2006 they were separated again.

In 1992, IMNU was selected as an "excellent university in terms of physical education".

In 1999, the PE course for undergraduate students was named an "excellent course" by the autonomous region and won first-class prize in 2004 in a course evaluation.
