The Institute of Sculpture Art of Inner Mongolia Normal University (IMNU) was founded in June 2006 based on the former Sculpture Department of the School of Fine Art. The institute consists of the Departments of Sculpture, Pottery Art, and Mural Painting, as well as the Ethnic Sculpture Engineering Research Center of Inner Mongolia, the Inner Mongolia Art Research Center for Ethnic Sculpture, the Institute of Plastic Arts under the International Center for Mongol Studies, and the Research Institute of Ethnic Pottery Art. The institute of Sculpture Art integrates the purposes of education, research, and public services.

I. Disciplines

1. Programs

The institute provides three specialties: Sculpture, Pottery Art and Mural Painting.

2. Degrees

The institute offers degrees in Sculpture Art. (Specialties: Research in Sculpture Art, Research in Pottery Art, and Research in Mural Art)

3. Education resources and studios

In order to improve education quality, the Institute of Sculpture Art has purchased nearly 1,000 books and painting albums, as well as other materials. Education and research facilities include a basic art studio, a clay studio, multimedia classrooms, a firing center, a practice workshop for collaborative research programs, and the Technical Institute of Ethnic Arts.

The institute has a teaching space of nearly 6,000 square meters, providing favorable conditions for teaching and researching.

II. Scientific research and art creation

The Institute of Sculpture Art enjoys a favorable atmosphere for academic research. In recent years, teachers at the institute published 12 albums of paintings and treatises, along with nearly 50 academic articles. In addition, they often led students on field trips, which inspired the creation of many impressive artworks favored by the public.

Since the founding of the institute, more than 100 teachers have presented their works at national and provincial art and design exhibitions. The works by Wen Dusu and others won top awards. Some of the works have been included in the collections of cultural institutions such as the National Art Museum of China.
