Hohhot strengthens opening-up to boost high-quality development
On Oct 17, a China-Europe freight train carrying auto parts departed from Hohhot's Shaliang Logistics Park to Moscow, marking a record-breaking 100 train trips and 10,000 containers dispatched in 2024.
On Nov 6, Hohhot hosted a cross-border e-commerce trade fair in Shanghai, themed "Hohhot-Shanghai Cooperation: Drawing a New Silk Road Blueprint". The event attracted numerous industry leaders, fostering ties with coastal regions and driving e-commerce innovation.
The following day, Hohhot Baita International Airport launched its first intercontinental cargo route to Moscow, enhancing the city's global connectivity.
Hohhot's proactive policies in foreign trade, investment, and cross-border collaboration have achieved remarkable results. From January to October, its foreign trade volume reached 18.48 billion yuan ($2.55 billion), a 32.8-percent year-on-year increase. Exports of high-value-added products, such as machinery, vehicles, and pharmaceuticals, surged.
The city also leads Inner Mongolia in foreign investment, with 2.92 billion yuan in capital utilized in the first three quarters. Strategic initiatives target Central Asia, ASEAN, Japan, South Korea, and Africa for new business opportunities.
Hohhot's commitment to opening up extends to fostering global partnerships, having established ties with eight sister cities worldwide, including Ulaanbaatar and Ulan-Ude.
Hohhot is setting a dynamic example for high-level openness, positioning itself as a vibrant player in global economic networks.
