Hohhot welcomes inaugural successful return of China-Europe freight train
The first-ever return trip of the China-Europe freight train from the Hohhot Comprehensive Bonded Zone successfully arrived at Taigemu Station in Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Jan 26.
Departing from the Kalodzishchy station in Belarus and entering through Manzhouli Port, this marks the first return trip of goods from the Hohhot Comprehensive Bonded Zone since the launch of this China-Europe freight route last year, signifying the formal implementation of bi-directional China-Europe freight trains via the bonded zone.
Up to now, a total of eight return trips from China to Europe and China to Central Asia have been dispatched from the Hohhot Comprehensive Bonded Zone, with an estimated total value of goods reaching about 25.7 million yuan ($3.58 million).
Among them, there have been six return China-Europe freight trains, mainly carrying potassium chloride and sheet metal, with a value of approximately 22 million yuan. Additionally, there have been two return China-Central Asia freight trains, primarily transporting wheat bran granules and barley, with a value of around 3.7 million yuan.
The successful operation of these return freight trains is expected to effectively shorten the transportation period of goods, improve the imbalance in import and export proportions in the capital region, and provide more convenient and efficient international logistics channels for Hohhot and its resident enterprises, thereby accelerating the high-quality development of Hohhot’s outward-oriented economy.
