The second Hasuhai Winter Fishing Festival kicked off with great enthusiasm on the first day of the New Year's Day holiday in Tumd Left Banner, Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
This year's Winter Fishing Festival will run until Feb 15, and will feature four major components: winter fishing, ice entertainment activities, winter sports, and ice fishing.
Despite the harsh winter weather, Hohhot's Daheihe Military-themed Cultural Park is bustling with activity. Over 120 craftsmen from a professional ice and snow construction team in Heilongjiang province diligently work to create stunning ice and snow spectacles for the upcoming third Hohhot Happy Ice and Snow Carnival.

With a planned area of 270,000 square meters, the carnival will consist of three main zones: an interactive experience zone, an ice and snow amusement park, and a commercial supporting area.
It will showcase six major highlights, including the Penguin Ice and Snow Debut, an 800-meter-long ice slide with eight lanes, exquisite ice sculptures that total over 10,000 cubic meters, and more than 100 interactive ice and snow performances.
In mid-December 2023, Hohhot announced the launch of ice and snow consumption vouchers worth 1 million yuan ($14,031), as well as ice sports coupons worth 5 million yuan to encourage residents' participation in ice and snow activities.
