Hohhot launches China-Central Asia freight train
On Nov 25, a milestone was achieved as the first China-Central Asia freight train departed on its journey from the Hohhot Comprehensive Bonded Zone. This marks the initiation of another international rail intermodal route facilitated by the bonded zone, contributing to the continued expansion of the global logistics system connecting Asia and Europe.
The train was loaded with goods, including concrete pump truck parts, aluminum profiles, and tires, supplied by Beijing Qucheng International Freight Forwarding Co. The total value of the cargo was 18.46 million yuan ($2.59 million).
The train departed from the Hohhot Railway Logistics Park in Hohhot, the capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, switched to a different train at Horgos, and arrived in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, after passing through Kazakhstan.
The operation of this freight train has significantly reduced the consolidation time for the freight forwarding company and its overseas customers. Customers with various goods can now take the return train at fixed times, considerably decreasing the comprehensive transportation costs. This development has comprehensively expanded the trade channels between Hohhot and the countries in Central Asia.
