Hohhot, capital city of Inner Mongolia, has been making remarkable efforts in environmental protection and ecological construction in recent years, as it takes a proactive approach towards greening, water management, and pollution control to create a more livable environment.
To restore the natural ecology of Daqing Mountain, Hohhot launched a series of comprehensive ecological protection and construction projects in 2012.
The Chilechuan grassland restoration project is one of the most important initiatives undertaken. Today, the Chilechuan National Grassland Nature Park maintains an average humidity of 67 percent during summer, while the southern slope of Daqing Mountain has become an enchanting "backyard" for the city, characterized by lush green trees, winding paths, and a sense of natural harmony.
So far, a total of 7.2 square kilometers of barren mountains have been afforested, and the ecological protection and construction area in the Daqing Mountain region has reached 118 square kilometers, forming a beautiful green ecological barrier.
In recent years, Hohhot has vigorously implemented the construction of "pocket parks" in the city, with 310 planned to be built by 2022. The green space in the city has been continuously expanded.
Currently, green coverage in the built-up area of Hohhot has reached 43.21 percent.
