Lovely Hohhot city – capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – is becoming ever more livable, with its environment continuing to go from strength to strength in 2022, according to the city's ecological environment bureau.
Throughout the year, Hohhot recorded 329 days with good ambient air quality, an increase of 11 days compared with the same period last year. The proportion of days with good ambient air quality reached 90.1 percent.
In 2022, the average water quality of the five nationally controlled assessment sections in Hohhot all met the national and autonomous region's binding environmental protection indicators during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).
Among the cities with relatively good changes in their water environment quality in national surface water assessment sections, Hohhot ranks third.
The water quality of urban centralized drinking water sources in Hohhot has reached the standard limit of Class III. The city's agricultural land has no soil pollution and the safe utilization rate of key construction land has remained at 100 percent, ranking Hohhot at the forefront of the autonomous region.
After a strict review by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, on Nov 18 last year Hohhot was officially named a demonstration city for national ecological civilization construction.
