A naoge parade creates excitement at the temple fair. Naoge performances, a national item of intangible cultural heritage, are a type of folk performance usually staged one day before the Lantern Festival – which falls on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar calendar. Each man in the parade carries an iron frame fastened to his waist with a child wearing colorful costumes standing on the top. The men then walk to the beat of drums and gongs.
