Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group Co, or Yili – the dairy industry giant that is based in Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – recently had its carbon management systems recognized by the authorities.
It received a Carbon Management System Evaluation Certificate from SGS Standard Technology Service Co and the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange on Oct 18, making it the first enterprise in its industry to comply with the Carbon Management System Requirements and Guidelines for Use.
This indicates that Yili has established a complete carbon emissions management system, carbon asset management system, carbon trading management system and carbon neutrality management system – with the group playing its part in helping to establish a solid foundation for the realization of carbon neutrality in the entire industry supply chain by 2050.
The Carbon Management System Requirements and Guidelines for Use is the world's first comprehensive carbon management system standard.
The standard was drafted by the Shanghai Environmental Exchange and the Shanghai Institute of Quality Management Science and was jointly drafted by more than 10 units, including Fudan University and Nanjing University. It is formulated and issued by the China Industrial Energy Conservation and Cleaner Production Association and the evaluation process is extremely strict.

For its part, Yili is said to have always attached great importance to achieving peak carbon and carbon neutrality, continuously improving its carbon management system and leading the carbon reduction work of the entire industry supply chain with practical actions.
Since 2010, Yili has carried out comprehensive carbon inspections within the enterprise for 12 consecutive years. That made it the first enterprise in the industry to carry out carbon inspections.
On April 8, Yili released the "Zero Carbon Future Plan of the Yili Group" and the "Roadmap of the Yili Group Zero Carbon Future Plan", indicating that Yili achieved peak carbon in 2012 and will achieve carbon neutrality in the entire industry supply chain by 2050. It has also set itself specific tasks in the field, to be conducted in three phases in 2030, 2040 and 2050.
