Hohhot city, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, signed strategic cooperation agreements on April 7 with TCL Technology Group and Tianjin Zhonghuan Semiconductor Co, for projects which are expected to boost the development of the new energy industry there.

The two companies are understood to be leaders in the electronics information and photovoltaic industries.

Tianjin Zhonghuan Semiconductor Co, one of TCL's subsidiaries, began building the Inner Mongolia Zhonghuan Industrial Park in the city in 2009.

It has since invested a total of 40 billion yuan ($6.29 billion) to build a solar-grade monocrystalline silicon production and manufacturing base.

This base is said to have the largest monomer scale, complete categories, advanced process technology and leading manufacturing methods and productivity of its kind in the country.
