Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group, or Yili Group, on March 5 donated 5 million yuan ($791,000) to Tumd Left Banner in Hohhot – located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – to help with its purchases of medical equipment.

That gesture marked another generous gift from the dairy giant to Inner Mongolia's capital city.

As a local enterprise that grew up in Hohhot and went global, Yili has continued to expand and has been ranked first in the Asian dairy industry for eight consecutive years and rated among the top five in the global dairy industry.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Yili Group has acted quickly in times of crisis to lend a helping hand to its hometown.

In 2020, some 60 million yuan was donated to the China Red Cross Foundation alone, to support epidemic prevention and controls in Inner Mongolia and Hohhot.

Yili has activated its global supplier resources and purchased a large amount of protective clothing, goggles, medical masks, medical equipment, alcohol and other anti-epidemic materials – from countries and regions including South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan. It has then donated them to Hohhot and league cities in the autonomous region.
