Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has made major and increasing progress in its environmental development, with the per capita park green space increasing by 0.14 square meters in 2021 alone, according to local media reports.

The east side of Xiliin Park borders Xiliin Gol South Road. In order to enable residents to fully take in the beautiful scenery along the thoroughfare, the city's gardening department has carried out overall greening and upgrading of the park.

Although it is now the middle of winter, many residents still come to the park every day for exercise and relaxation.

With the establishment of a number of so-called pocket parks in 2021, some 50 hectares of green space were added.

Pocket parks are a new concept that has evolved in recent years. They are generally created by using undeveloped urban green space, idle land and urban micro-spaces. Typically, these parks are small-scale public spaces that have practical and flexible uses.
