Hohhot gains 2 more autonomous region level makerspaces

Two makerspaces in Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, have been approved as autonomous region level makerspaces, according to a list recently released by the Science and Technology Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The Guofeng Eco-city Makerspace started operating in 2014, providing one-stop services for entrepreneurial individuals, teams and enterprises, and improving the success rate of entrepreneurial projects and entrepreneurial teams.

The makerspace has an office area of 10,000 square meters, and is currently being used by 14 companies and five entrepreneurial teams.

The Baima Qingshan Artificial Intelligence Makerspace started operating in 2019 and is committed to creating an innovation-conducive space revolving around artificial intelligence.

It has adopted an online and offline integrated incubation model.

The makerspace has an office area of 3,422 square meters and is currently being used by 20 companies.

The Hohhot science and technology bureau continues to promote the construction of makerspaces in the city through policy support, business training and guidance.

In 2021, Hohhot issued the "Implementation Opinions of the Hohhot Municipal People's Government on Further Promoting Scientific and Technological Innovation to Build a Regional Innovation Center".

A total of 200,000 yuan ($31,420) will be given as a one-time reward to support makerspaces that achieve outstanding performances according to the evaluation standards of the autonomous region.

In 2021, four makerspaces in Hohhot achieved excellent results in the performance evaluation conducted by the autonomous region, and won a total of 1.6 million yuan in subsidies from the government.
