Hohhot's GDP hits $23.8b in H1

Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, recorded a satisfactory economic boost of its regional gross domestic product (GDP) in the first half of this year by reportedly hitting 153.9 billion yuan ($23.8 billion), a year-on-year growth of 10.2 percent, according to Hohhot Daily.

The regional GDP and growth rate both ranked third in the autonomous region.

During the same period, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 10.5 percent year on year, ranking fifth in the autonomous region. Fixed asset investments increased by 45.6 percent year on year, ranking third in the autonomous region.

The total retail sales of consumer goods reached 49.71 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.9 percent, and the general public budget revenue reached 11.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.4 percent.

The per capita disposable income of urban permanent residents in the city is estimated to be 25,941 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.2 percent, and the per capita disposable income of rural residents is estimated to be 9,156 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.7 percent.

Hohhot has accelerated the promotion of industrial transformation and upgrading, and the economic structure has continued to optimize.

The dairy industry, modern energy, biomedicine and other clusters have accelerated development, and the "Preferential Policies for Investment Promotion of Dairy Industry Development Zones" have been issued.

In the first half of this year, the output value of strategic emerging industries increased by 80.1 percent year on year, accounting for 25.3 percent of the output value of industries above designated size[M1] , an increase of 6.3 percentage points from the same period last year.

During the six-month period, Hohhot hosted 8.15 million visitors, an increase of 30.1 percent, and the tourism revenue totaled 11.94 billion yuan, an increase of 20.8 percent.
