Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has recorded continuous improvements in its air quality, according to data released by the city's ecological environment bureau.

In the first four months of 2021, the total number of days with good air quality was 96, an increase of 14 days year-on-year, and the compliance rate was 80 percent, an increase of 12.2 percentage points year-on-year.

During this period, all of the six main pollutants decreased. Of these pollutants, the average concentration of PM2.5 was 38 micrograms per cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 32 micrograms.

In accordance with the requirements of the 2021 Implementation Plan for Promoting Pollution Prevention and Control in Hohhot, the city’s ecological environment bureau has implemented multiple policies and tracked the progress of pollution prevention and control tasks on a weekly basis.

The bureau continues to strengthen the management and control of enterprise dust and volatile organic chemicals, strengthen carbon emission management, and actively promote the management and control of coal-fired boilers, scattered coal combustion, and urban dust.
