The Jinshan Development Zone in Hohhot city – capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – reportedly came in at 123rd in the comprehensive ranking of high-tech zones in China in 2020, 10 places higher than it achieved in 2019.
The ranking was calculated following an evaluation by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The Jinshan Development Zone was approved as a national high-tech development zone at the end of 2013 by the State Council, China's Cabinet.
It focuses on the dairy sector, chemicals, electric power, logistics and the equipment manufacturing and emerging industries. The zone is also home to businesses in the building materials, packaging, photovoltaics and biomedicines sectors and in agricultural industrialization.
The zone is also a modern comprehensive park integrating a technology town, financial services, housing and schools.
Moving forwards, the Hohhot science and technology bureau will further improve its system and mechanism for nurturing high-tech zones, increase investment in science and technology, help industry recruit innovative and entrepreneurial people and strengthen the construction of incubation platforms.
It will strive to develop the Jinshan Development Zone as an innovation-driven development demonstration zone and a high-quality pilot development zone.
