Hohhot sees growth in consumer goods market during holiday
The consumer goods market in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, recorded growth during the Spring Festival holiday period, with the sales volume of 45 retail and catering companies reaching 110 million yuan ($17 million) - 1.94 times last year's figure.
Of this total, the sales volume of 19 supermarkets, including Zhenhua Plaza, hit 67.52 million yuan, an increase of 5.6 percent over the same period last year.
During the Spring Festival holiday, all large shopping malls and supermarkets in Hohhot were open for business, while meeting COVID-19 prevention and control requirements.
According to statistics, organic food, green vegetables, seafood products, fine fruits and delicate snacks became the first choice for dining tables. Smart appliances, digital products, and other small household appliances that improve quality of life were among the best sellers, and the sales of corporate household appliances and audio equipment increased by 61.54 percent year-on-year.
In addition, from Jan 20 to Feb 18, 2021, Hohhot carried out online promotional events for special Spring Festival purchases.
During these events, a total of 12 participating companies generated more than 82,000 orders, with a transaction volume of approximately 22.65 million yuan.
