Great efforts have been taken in Hohhot, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, to restore Daqingshan's natural environment in recent years -- with 100 industrial and mining enterprises in the Daqingshan National Nature Reserve so far closed, with their mining licenses canceled, according to local media reports.

In recent years, the nature reserve and the region's environment had been hit hard by the rough development and utilization of resources and the disorderly activities of industrial and mining companies.

Responding, the city's natural resources, forestry, grass and environment departments carried out targeted restoration and rehabilitation work and management in accordance with local conditions. Today, Daqingshan can finally recuperate after more than 40 years of heavy mining activities.

In March 2019, Hohhot city fully implemented a grazing prohibition in the Daqingshan National Nature Reserve.

In addition, environmental mitigation plans have been formulated in the core area and buffer zone of Daqingshan National Nature Reserve, including Xincheng district, Huimin district, Tumd Left Banner and Wuchuan county.

Related systems, plans and approaches on restoration and fire prevention had been combined.

As a result, Hohhot has further strengthened and regulated its protection of forest and grassland resources, its emergency responses to forest and grassland fires and improved its prevention and control of pests.
