Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, reported steady industrial economic growth in the first half of 2020, with the added value of its industrial enterprises above a designated size increasing by 9.4 percent year-on-year. 

The figure made Hohhot rank second among the 12 leagues and cities in the autonomous region, and was 11.5 and 10.7 percentage points higher respectively than the autonomous region and national average growth rates.

During the epidemic prevention and control period, Hohhot strengthened guarantees and promoted the orderly resumption of work and production at its industrial enterprises.

The city formulated the Hohhot Industrial Enterprise Resumption of Work and Production Epidemic Prevention and Control Work Plan to set standards, and help industrial enterprises resume work and production.

During the epidemic period, the resumption rate of industrial enterprises in the city has been at the forefront of the 12 leagues and cities in Inner Mongolia. By the end of March, all industrial enterprises in the city above a designated size had resumed work and production.

The municipal bureau of industry and information technology worked alongside cooperative banks. In the first half of the year, a total of 61 companies were granted loan renewals and extensions, with a total value of 257 million yuan ($37.24 million).

Cooperating with the human resources and social security bureau, the city implemented unemployment insurance refunds for 14 enterprises with operating difficulties, totaling more than 29.8 million yuan.

A total of 34 enterprises and projects in the city got 13.35 million yuan of city-level special funds for industrial development. In addition, 67 projects have applied for special funds for the development of key industries (parks) in the autonomous region in 2020.
