A report on the national consumer goods standardization pilot project was given by the Market Management Bureau of Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Yili Industrial Group on Oct 10 -- to celebrate the upcoming World Standards Day. 

According to the report, as the only enterprise listed in the pilot project, Yili has contributed a great amount to industrial standardization in Inner Mongolia. 

Officials said it established a research group and formulated a quality management program as the basis of its standardization procedures. 

It has also placed the emphasis on technological innovation and intelligent manufacturing. 

In March this year, Yili launched China’s first quota standard for the domestic dairy industry. 

“It is our duty to help quicken the pace of standardization. All Chinese enterprises should keep making efforts in this area,” said Xu Ke, vice-president of Yili Group. 

Xu also shared Yili’s experiences in carrying out industrial standardization with other Inner Mongolian enterprises at the meeting. 

World Standards Day is scheduled every year on Oct 14 -- to pay tribute to the collaborative efforts of experts worldwide in developing voluntary technical agreements which are published as International Standards. 

It was launched by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), to raise public awareness of the significance of standardization in the global economy. 

Standardization is basically the method of development and implementation of technical standards. 

With the help of international standards, technical obstructions in international commerce can be largely avoided and product quality can be trusted by consumers.
