A new direct flight linking Mongolia's capital city Ulan Bator to Hohhot, capital city of China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was launched on Sept 12, local Inner Mongolia media reported.
The direct flight is scheduled to be operated by Air China twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays, using a Boeing 737-800.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and also the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mongolia.
Improving connectivity on the construction of infrastructural facilities is reportedly a major priority for pushing forwards China's Belt and Road Initiative and in the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor.
Cao Wei, general business manager of Air China, said that the launch of the new flight was expected to help strengthen cooperation between China and Mongolia in economic, cultural affairs and in tourism.
