It is that time of year again. The second Oktoberfest, a German-style beer festival consisting of 16 days of celebration, is coming to Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The festival, to run from July 19 to Aug 4, will be hosted by the municipal government of Hohhot, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and other local government departments.
According to organizers, the beer festival is part of the 20th Zhaojun Festival, which will start on July 12.
The main venue for the festival covers an area of 5,000 square meters, and can accommodate nearly 4,000 visitors.
Oktoberfest is a traditional Bavarian folk festival that has been celebrated in Munich for over 200 years. It is also the largest beer festival in the world.
The festival first came to Hohhot in July 2018, helping promote the Zhaojun Cultural Festival and Inner Mongolia tourism in Europe, especially in Germany. The festival was so successful that it will be held again in 2019, with the addition of circus shows.
This year, the festival will be filled with dancing, music, and frosted mugs of German beer.
German food and delicacies, including roasted lamb, dairy products, shaomai and pork knuckle, will be available for hungry partiers. And the German band Take-five will be performing live during the festival.
