Hohhot to invest in 533 major projects
Hohhot, the capital city of Inner Mongolia autonomous region plans to invest 359.7 billion yuan ($51.93 billion) in 533 major projects this year, according to a press conference held on June 14.
Wang Jie, deputy director of the Hohhot Development and Reform Commission told at the conference that 259 projects resumed construction and 321 projects started construction during the first five months this year.
Construction on the key infrastructure projects has sped up in recent months, officials said. Hohhot metro line 1 is set to start trial operations at the end of this year and construction on metro line 2 is near completion.
Projects for the Chilechuan secondary school, Mongolian school and other schools in the city were also pushed forward smoothly, officials said.
According to the local government, it will continue to increase its investments in moving major projects ahead in manufacturing, the modern service sectors and in environmental projects -- in a bid to inject new vitality into the city’s high-quality growth.
