Chinese dairy giant Yili Group proposed the coordinated development of the whole industrial chain in the dairy industry at the China Dairy 20 Summit in Hulunbuir city, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Sept 27.

Zhang Jianqiu, executive president of the company put forward the proposal at the summit.

According to him, the industrial chain in the dairy sector involves the primary, secondary and tertiary industries, covering areas including the breeding of dairy cows, dairy processing, product distribution and marketing, as well as quality supervision.

As a leading dairy firm, Yili has always viewed the whole industrial chain as one, said Zhang.

In June, the State Council issued guidelines to promote the revitalization of the dairy sector in China and urged further quality improvements to Chinese milk.

According to the guidelines, the whole milk industry in China should be revitalized by 2025, with dairy farms, the processing of dairy products, quality and competitiveness reaching international levels.

To achieve these goals, Zhang stressed that Yili has to take the lead in cooperating with partners throughout the industrial chain, which is vital to further revive the dairy industry.

In order to develop the entire dairy industry, the company has rolled out training programs and offered financial support to its partners.

By the end of June, Yili had provided 20.6 billion yuan ($2.99 billion) to nearly 4,000 partners.

Attendees at the summit agreed that Yili’s efforts to emphasize quality will lay a solid foundation for achieving the country's goals.

The summit, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and the China Dairy 20 Alliance, is a high-level platform for leading dairy companies to exchange ideas and develop new initiatives and best practices to boost China’s dairy industry.
