Horinger new district leads promotion of intelligent industry

The first intelligent industry summit is set to start at Inner Mongolia International Convention and Exhibition Center on Jan 19, according to an announcement by the Information Office of Hohhot Municipal People’s Government delivered at a news conference on Jan 15.

The summit is organized by Horinger New District, the Hohhot government, Inner Mongolia’s big data bureau and Microsoft Corp and aims to establish platforms for the development of smart industries based on big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things (IoT) and other new technologies. The summit comes as part of a bid to restructure the regional economy and shift its growth model toward productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness.

As announced at the news conference, the summit will include an opening ceremony and eight activities from AI application and IoT summits and technology competitions to forums on big data, cloud computing and smart manufacturing.

Attending the summit will be guests from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, renowned experts from colleges and scientific institutions, and representatives from leading local and international smart solutions. Five academics and a renowned foreign expert will give keynote speeches.

Since being established in February 2017, Horinger New District has built itself into an important cluster for such strategic emerging industries as new energy, big data, high-end equipment manufacturing and biotechnology. The summit is part of continuing efforts to promote industrial integration in the district.

According to a government work report released during the 15th Hohhot Municipal People’s Congress, 2018 will see Hohhot continuing work to promote Horinger New District’s development, fashioning from it a new engine for the city’s economy.
