Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has recently released a blueprint for boosting the city's logistics industry.

The city aims to develop itself into a logistics hub for North China, connecting China with Russia, Mongolia and Europe. It intends to keep the annual growth rate of the added value of logistics above 16 percent from 2017.

To reach its goals, Hohhot will establish a public information platform where various logistics resources are shared. Meanwhile, more new technologies and applications, such as the global positioning system and electronic data interchange, will be promoted to improve and complete the local logistics system.

Hohhot will also combine logistics with finance, IT and the design industries, increasing the added value of the modern logistics business.

As for logistics infrastructure, the city will advance the construction of its transportation network, giving priority to road and rail transport. Export and import terminals in the city will enhance its comprehensive services by setting up free trade zones and an electronic port management system.

Logistics parks for warehousing will be built to accelerate the transit process within the city. Local logistics companies and wholesale markets will be encouraged to cooperate with communities on building transit sites for the distribution of goods.

The local government will offer financial support and preferential policies to facilitate these proposals. For example, each key logistics project will get a maximum discount of 5 million yuan ($720,900) when applying for a loan from local financial institutions.
