The Qiao Mengyuan entrepreneurship base in Hefei, Anhui province, an industrial cluster for overseas Chinese businessmen, saw the signing of 58 projects on Dec 28, 2018, worth 6.5 billion yuan ($946 million).

The projects, attracting investments from the United States, Japan, France and Israel, mainly focus on emerging industries of artificial intelligence, electronic information, new energy and bio-pharmaceuticals, and also include intelligent manufacturing and modern service industries.

Renowned enterprises such as Health-Biotech, CapitalBio and OVCtek, pioneers at the stem cells industry, tumor molecular diagnosis and high-end healthcare industry, are among the list.

Liu Li, member of the Standing Committee of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee, said a total of 121 projects invested by overseas Chinese start-ups, valued at over 13 billion yuan, have settled at Qiao Mengyuan since its establishment on Oct 18, 2016.

She said the entrepreneurship base has become a trump card of not just the city but the entire province to tackle affairs concerning Chinese living abroad.

Anhui province has always been placed high on dealing overseas Chinese affairs. Groups of overseas Chinese returning to the country and realizing their ambitions have infused great momentum into Anhui's development in science and innovation, industrial progress, economic and trade cooperation, and international exchanges.
